This week seemed to fly by. On Monday, Mitchell had his eye exam and on Tuesday, he got his new glasses. He was so amazed at how clearly things were once he got them.
eyes dilated = not happy camper
isn't he handsome?
Not much to report for Wednesday. We spent the day working on school and had a fun family dinner where we played virtual hide-n-seek. We would think of a hiding place in the apartment and the others would have to guess where each person was hiding. I like this version of hide-n-seek..... much less chance of breaking my toe again! We also received an impromptu fashion show from Darci thanks to Aunt Alice, Sarah Kauble, and the new swimsuit I ordered for her.
Thursday started off with us going to the NEO exercise. NEO stands for Non-combatant Evacuation Operation. It was our practice for evacuating the country. Basically, we just went from station to station carrying around our gas masks, got pretend tickets and we were done! That evening we got to go see the AVENGERS. GREAT MOVIE!
On Friday, we hung out around the house and watched superhero movies since the kids really loved Avengers. I also taught the kids how to play MASH. For those of you who don't know or remember the game, it is a fortune teller game that I played with my friends when I was a kid. So the kids really enjoyed predicting everyones' future and here are our futures (mine and Dave's are in alternate universe).
Darci is going to marry Jake, live in an apartment in Paris, drive a pick-up truck, and work as a secretary.
Mitchell is going to marry Helena, live in a shack in Seattle, drive a Ferrari, and work as a lawyer.
Dave is going to marry Whitney Houston (definitely an alternate reality), live in a mansion in Moscow, drive a mini cooper, and work as a businessman.
and the best for last.....
I am going to marry Zac Efron, live in an apartment in Boston, drive a minivan, and work as a HIRED ASSASSIN!
Oh and Dave and Darci made cookie muffins.....
Saturday was AMAZING! We got to go to the Lotus Lantern Parade in Seoul. The Lotus Lantern Festival is a yearly celebration to celebrate Buddha's birthday. We left Camp Casey at around 4pm on a small tour bus with a total of 14 of us. Our neighbors and friends, the Pessas went, as well as three other people including our new friend, Dan O'Neill. He is from Philadelphia and has been here 3 weeks and will be going home in a few days.
The trip to Seoul was pretty uneventful UNTIL our bus driver told us to get off the bus in the middle of traffic. We had been stuck in traffic for quite some time and were running late, so the tour guide had to walk over to meet us and take us to the parade route. Once there, we had front row seats to one of coolest experiences I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing.
Every person walking in the parade was either carrying a beautiful lantern or pushing a float. Every group that walked by had their own type of lanterns. We did see some ODD Korea in the parade.... including a Winnie the Pooh sighting and AIRWOLF. Mitchell and Darci got their own taste of what it was like to be a celebrity. Koreans kept stopping and taking pictures of the children over and over and over again. At one point, there were four photographers snapping pics. Darci said to me "I have paparazzi here, mom!" The beautiful lanterns and floats just seemed to keep coming and coming and coming. There had to be millions of people there. Towards the end of the parade, we actually go to walk in it! When we waved at the people on the street, many of them would yell hello to us. They were so excited to see AMERICANS! We will definitely be attending next year.
There are tons of pics and videos. I could not even put them all in the blog! I tried to pick the best ones. I hope you enjoy them.
Raymond, Mitchell, Thomas, and Darci are ready to go!

We did not get home until midnight on Saturday night, so Sunday was very laid back. We did have a late lunch with our friend, Paul Golicz. And I had to take a picture of the burrito I ordered because I have never seen one served quite this way!
