Bodily Family Fun: Superbowl "Monday", Sweethearts, and a Solemn Place

Welcome back, everyone! Thank you for coming by to check on us again. This post is about our 49th week in Korea for those of you who are keeping track of the time. This week started with SUPERBOWL MONDAY! Yes, I said MONDAY because we were all up at 6am on Monday morning to watch the Superbowl. It was quite an odd experience to watch it in the day time, AND don't even get me started on scrambled eggs and bacon as "party" food. So with a not-so-great signal and our glasses of orange juice, Dave and I, along with our friend Jeff, gathered around the computer screen to watch the game. During the infamous blackout, we headed out to play in the snow once again.

On Tuesday, the kids got an art lesson at the weekly homeschool class on post. Not only did they learn the symbolism behind the Korean flag and how to write the words in Hangul, they also got to create their own.

Girl Scouts met again on Thursday in an effort to prepare for Thinking Day. The girls have been hard at work making swaps and researching the country of Jordan for their project.

On Friday, we headed to Seoul for the weekend. Not only was it the Lunar New Year, but it was also the Daddy Daughter Sweetheart Ball. So, Dave got dressed in his dress blues and took Darci to the ball. They made such a handsome couple ☺. Mitchell and I had a wonderful dinner together and enjoyed just hanging out watching TV while we waited for them to get back.

On Saturday morning, we slept in, had a great breakfast, relaxed for a little while and then headed to the National War Museum. It was such a great learning experience for us all. And although it was FREEZING cold, it was one of the BEST things we have done here. The outside monuments and memorials were a very stark reminder of what happened here. The halls of names on each side of the museum are a very solemn tribute to the fallen. While there we met a young Korean girl who volunteers to give tours to guests of the museum. She was so excited to be able tell us about the exhibits. Her mother was so proud of her for being a tour guide that she followed us around taking pictures of us getting the tour.
