Garlic, Garlic, Garlic, and SPAM!

So after several days without internet capabilities and a trip to Seoul, I am finally able to sit down and work on week 48.  The only thing I really have to share with you for this week is a few pictures I took when Dave and I went to Uijeongbu over the weekend and had lunch at a restaurant called Mad for Garlic.  It was DELICIOUS (and yes, everything has garlic in it)!

mmmmmmm!

garlic bulbs were used as decoration everywhere

garlic snowing pizza with shrimp and pineapple ☺

I also snapped a couple of odd Korea pics including gift sets for the Lunar New Year, a new way to look at home exercise equipment, some strange statues, and a couple of hotels.

a box of mushrooms for about $90

12 cans of spam for about $57.... the cost of spam here never ceases to amaze me

specialized workout equipment?!?!?!  complete with stirrups!!!!
this is for sale in the department store

randomness

Hotel Head One???

the ACTUAL name of the hotel....Hotel Come Inn

Like I said, this week was short.  I will start on week 49 soon and try to catch up ☺.  Thank you for stopping by.  See you again in a few days.  Until then....

An Indoor Pool and A Lot of ICE

Week 47 was pretty uneventful until the weekend.  We made lots of memories and I have lots to share.  Enjoy!

On Saturday, the kids got to go swimming, something we have really never been able to do in the winter before.  They were so excited to hang out with Elliot and Ashlyn.  It is GREAT that Camp Hovey has such a nice indoor pool.

of course they didn't really want to take a picture

always with the peace signs

The rest of the pictures are from our trip on Sunday to the Hwacheon Ice Festival.  Although it was a long car ride to get there, we really enjoyed the scenery along the way.  We stopped at the top of one of the mountains and played in the snow.  The festival itself was so much FUN! We really wish we had been able to spend more time there.

to the left is the ice tunnel

pretty cool

the closet thing we will ever get to being inside an igloo

the ice festival was the last leg of the Special Olympic Torch Relay

there were ice skates for rent BUT

who needs ice skates when you can just use your shoes OR

when you can BUTT skate (as we call it) or
sseol mae in Korean

people were playing hockey with their feet on these miniature rinks

i guess we will call this "Ice Carting"

although we didn't actually fish, it was interesting to watch

there had to be 1000 people fishing

cook it as soon as you catch is their motto

hanging out by the hand fishing pool

"bobsledding"

What a wonderful day it was and we got to watch this beautiful sunset as we headed home.  We made memories for a lifetime!

Thank you for reading our blog again.  I know this one was late but at least it was GREAT!  Until next time....
